1.4 DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Self lifting seat shall be tested and certified by an independent testing laboratory in accordance with ASTM F 581 to withstand 100,000 operating cycles without added lubrication, spring fatigue,adjustment, or measurable bearing wear.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 1300.
B. Product Data: Manufacturer’s data sheets on each product to be used, including:
1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.
2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
3. Installation methods.
4. Maintenance requirements.
C. Shop Drawings: Include seating layout and schedules for type, location, quantity, and details of components required for the project.
D. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two color chips representing manufacturer’s full range of available colors.
E. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 2-1/2 inches (63.5 mm) square, representing actual product color.
F. Manufacturer’s Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer with a minimum of seven years documented experience in the manufacturing of the seating specified.
B. Installer Qualifications: Installer with a minimum of three years experience in the installation of the seating specified and who is certified by seating manufacturer.
1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver seating in manufacturer's packaging clearly labeled with manufacturer name and content.
B. Store indoors in manufacturer’s unopened packaging until ready for installation.
C. Handle seating in a manner to prevent damage.
1.8 SEQUENCING
A. Ensure that locating templates and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.2 SEATING
A. Floor/Riser/Bleacher Mounted Seating: “Champion” line of indoor or outdoor seating.
1. Construction General: Plastic components one piece, solid, injection molded plastic of automotive grade high impact, no-break polypropylene with ultra-violet light inhibitors and light stable color pigments compatible with virgin materials.
a. Tensile Strength: Aisle standards 4600 psi.
b. Flexural Strength: Aisle standards no break IZOD factor of 15.
c. Melting Temperature: Aisle standards 320 degrees F.
d. Flammability: No flash point, no combustion on aisle standards.
2. Seat and Back: No-break polypropylene formed to fit body contour with all edges finished with a radius. Seat contains an automatic 3/4 fold lift up system. Backs have a nominal wall thickness of 0.50 inch (12.7 mm).
a. Stadium/Arena/Bleacher Size: Center armrest to center armrest. 1) 19 inch (483 mm) (not Bleacher). 2) 20 inch (508 mm). 3) 21 inch (533 mm). 4) 22 inch (559 mm). 5) 23 inch (584 mm) (Bleacher only).
b. Quarterback/Sport/Spectator Size: Width: 1) 18 inch (457 mm). 2) 19 inch (483 mm). Depth: 3) 12 inch (305 mm). 4) 17 inch (432 mm).
c. Back: Proved with two recessed surfaces to accommodate donor plate or seat number. 1) Solid. (only available in 22 inch size) 2) Slat.
d. Colors: 1) Red. 2) Royal Blue. 3) Green. 4) Black. 5) Custom color as selected by the Architect.
3. Standard Pedestals: No-break polypropylene aisle and center standards are 1-3/4 inches (44 mm) wide with a 6-1/2 inch (165 mm) by 4-3/4 inch (121 mm) mounting plate for mounting with two bolts. Standards have flexural modulus of 80,000 lbs per square inch.
4. Seat Lifting Mechanism: Spring lift assisted system with lifting seat hinge that rotates on two 15/16 inch (23.8 mm) diameter high strength steel hinge rods. Seat utilizes 8 gauge torsion springs for quiet operation and is enclosed in a nylon protective casing.
5. Hardware: Automotive grade zinc plated or stainless steel fasteners.
6. Stadium/Arena Options:
a. Front mounted cup holders.
b. Rear mounted cup holders.
c. Decorative end panels that can accommodate logo and aisle letter.
B. Accessories:
1. Chair Numbers: Provide on each chair back numbers silk screened on 1-3/4inch (44 mm) by 2-3/4 inch (70 mm) lexan adhesive backed labels.
2. Row Letters: Provide on each row end chair black letters silk screened on 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) diameter lexan adhesive backed labels. Plates shall be surface mounted to end stanchions.
3. Removable Chairs: Provide chairs to be floor mounted and ganged in groups of one, two, or three chair units for easy removal in locations indicated. Chair stanchions shall be mounted to a painted steel skid base. Skid base with chairs shall be easily removed from the concrete floor by means of flush mounted internally threaded expansion anchors positioned under each leg of the skid. Upon removal of the skid, anchor holes shall be covered and sealed by means of round head bolts with rubber washers to prevent dirt and debris from damaging threads.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B. Verify area to receive audience seating are free of impediments interfering with installation.
C. Verify dimensions and sizes of locations and mounting surfaces are suitable for installation and are consistent with approved shop drawings.
D. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Provide accessories, anchors, and assembly hardware for installation of seating and for permanent attachment to adjoining construction.
3.4 ADJUSTMENT AND CLEANING
A. After installation completion, all equipment is to be adjusted for smooth and proper operation.
B. Clean seating and work area and remove debris from site.
3.5 PROTECTION
A. Protect installed products until completion of project.
B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
